2-(Bromoacetyl)pyridine hydrobromide (2BPBH) is a fluorescent organic molecule that has been shown to have fluorescence quantum yield of 0.81 and an emission maximum at 488 nm. The compound can be solvated in acetonitrile, which may affect its optical properties and fluorescence quantum yield due to the formation of hydrogen bonding interactions with the solvent. 2BPBH has a disubstituted benzene ring and the bromine atom is attached to the nitrogen atom on one side of the ring, and two nitro groups are attached on the other side of the ring. The electronic structures of this molecule are predominantly aromatic with a strong influence from delocalized π-electrons.
