5-Bromo-2-methoxypyrimidine is a synthesized molecule that contains nitrogen atoms. Debromination of 5-bromo-2-methoxypyrimidine has been shown to occur by the addition of amines and x-ray crystal structures have been obtained. The molecule can be alkylated with uv irradiation and synthetic methods to form 5-(4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-[1,3,2]dioxaborolan-2yl)-2-methoxypyrimidine. Acetonitrile and halides are used in the synthesis and vitamin b1 is required for the reaction. Biomolecules are involved in the synthesis with acetonitrile being a reactant and vitamin B1 being a cofactor.
