5-Bromo-2-methyl-3-nitrobenzoic acid (5BMN) is a radical scavenging agent that has been shown to have antiangiogenic activity. It also has antioxidant and antiinflammatory activities, inhibiting the production of cytokines in human cancer cells. 5BMN has been shown to have molecular docking with ascorbic acid, an antioxidant. The two compounds are able to form an amide bond, which may lead to the formation of a new antiangiogenic agent. 5BMN is also able to form hydrogen bonds with indazole derivatives, and this could lead to the discovery of a new class of antiangiogenic agents.
