6-Bromo-4-indolecarboxylic acid methyl ester is a radiosynthesis of 6-bromoindolecarboxylic acid. This compound has been shown to be an inhibitor of the enzyme polymerase in vitro and in vivo. It also inhibits cancer cell growth and tumor formation in a clinic study. The mechanism of action is thought to be through the inhibition of DNA synthesis, protein synthesis, and RNA synthesis. 6-Bromo-4-indolecarboxylic acid methyl ester inhibits cancer cell growth by blocking reductive amination and amination reactions that are required for DNA replication, protein synthesis, and RNA synthesis.
