Product Information
- 1-Cbz-3-azetidinone
Benzyl 3-oxoazetidine-1-carboxylate is an organic compound that has been synthesized in the form of a single enantiomer. The key feature of this molecule is its ability to undergo ring opening under irradiation, yielding an aromatic ketone as a major product and benzyl azetidine as a minor product. Benzyl 3-oxoazetidine-1-carboxylate is also able to undergo bond cleavage at the C-H bond, which gives rise to new functional groups such as cyanoalkyl or cyclobutanone. This process can be used for the synthesis of unsymmetrical molecules with activated C-H bonds.
