Product Information

Name:
5-Bromo-2-chlorobenzaldehyde
Synonyms:
  • 2-Chloro-5-Bromobenzaldehyde
  • Benzaldehyde, 5-bromo-2-chloro-
Description:

5-Bromo-2-chlorobenzaldehyde (5BCBA) is a potent and selective competitive inhibitor of the enzyme dipeptidyl peptidase 4 (DPP-4), which is responsible for the degradation of the incretin hormone glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1). It has been shown to have neutralizing effects on insulin resistance in animal models. 5BCBA is also an antidiabetic agent, inhibiting glucose production in the liver by blocking sodium-dependent glucose transport. This compound has been shown to have potent inhibitory activity against 5-membered heteroaryl groups and phenyl groups, as well as insulin resistance. The synthesis of 5BCBA can be achieved through chromatographic methods.
