N-Boc-trans-1,4-cyclohexyldiamine is a linker that is used in the synthesis of naphthyridine derivatives. It is metabolically stable and can be used to replace the more expensive 1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridines. Naphthyridine derivatives have been shown to bind to the CB2 receptor with high affinity and selectivity. The binding site for these compounds has been mapped by molecular modelling studies, which have also shown that it is possible to design ligands with improved pharmacophores for this receptor. Naphthyridine derivatives have been shown to inhibit the production of cytokines such as IL-1β and TNFα from activated human monocytes. This inhibition has been linked to activation of the cb2 receptor by these compounds.
