Product Information
- H-Aib-OtBu・HCl
- Alpha-Aminoisobutyric Acid T-Butyl Ester
Tert-butyl 2-amino-2-methylpropanoate is a synthetic tertiary amine that is used as an intermediate in the production of hydantoins. It has been shown to inhibit bacterial growth through the inhibition of bacterial DNA synthesis and protein synthesis. Tert-butyl 2-amino-2-methylpropanoate is metabolically unstable, with a half life of approximately two days. This compound binds to form hydrogen bonds with water molecules, which may lead to its conformational changes. The tertiary amine structure allows for intramolecular hydrogen bonding interactions and intermolecular hydrogen bonding with other functional groups on the molecule. These interactions result in a high melting point, or conformation that affects the way it reacts with other compounds. The compound has also been shown to have antiinflammatory properties by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis.
