Black Cohosh is used as a herbal remedy for the treatment of menopausal symptoms, such as hot flashes and night sweats. It is also used in the treatment of various other conditions, such as osteoarthritis, chronic pain, and urinary tract infections. Black Cohosh has been shown to have physiological effects on humans at doses that are equivalent to those found in nature. Black Cohosh may interact with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and increase their blood levels. The drug should not be taken by people who have high blood pressure or congestive heart failure. Black Cohosh is not recommended for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
