Benzyl-2-naphthyl ether is an organic compound that belongs to the group of benzyl ethers. It is a reaction product of sodium carbonate and growth factor. The reaction between sodium carbonate and growth factor produces a mixture of 3 products, which are benzyl-2-naphthyl ether, trifluoromethanesulfonic acid, and chloride. The optimum reaction time for this process is 8 hours at 60°C. Benzyl-2-naphthyl ether can be synthesized from potassium phosphate, fatty acids, and diphenylether in a chemical ionization process. This molecule has been shown to have cardioprotective properties in animal studies due to its ability to inhibit oxidation of low density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol.
