The viscosity of this substance is 0.25 cP at 25°C. Sodium benzenesulfinate dihydrate is soluble in water, alcohols, and ethers. The solubility in water is 1 g/100 mL at 25°C and it can dissolve up to 5 g/100 mL of chlorinated hydrocarbons such as trifluoromethanesulfonic acid in the presence of hydroxyl groups and active methylene groups. This substance reacts with chlorine atoms to form sodium chloride and sodium sulfate, which are both insoluble in water.
