Product Information
- Cbz-D-glutamic acid
- Z-D-Glu-Oh
N-Benzyloxycarbonyl-D-glutamic acid is a monoamide, an amidated molecule with one amide bond. It is synthesized enzymatically by the reaction of D-glutamic acid and N-benzyloxycarbonyl chloride. The amidation reaction produces the benzyloxycarbonyl group in the alpha position on the nitrogen atom of glutamic acid. The benzyloxycarbonyl group is used for receptor binding and chromatographic techniques to identify this amino acid. This amino acid binds to a membrane transport protein, which allows it to cross through the lipid bilayer and enter cells. N-Benzyloxycarbonyl-D-glutamic acid has a helical structure that can be imprinted with a specific enantiomeric excess, which may be useful for drug delivery applications.
