Product Information
2-BroMo-3-Dodecylthiophene is a chemical compound that has been investigated for its use in designing new types of semiconducting polymers. It is insoluble and can be used as a polymer for transport properties. In addition, it has been used to synthesize supramolecular structures with transition metal ions, such as Fe2+ and Cu2+. 2-BroMo-3-Dodecylthiophene has been shown to have photophysical properties that are dependent on the crystalline structure of the molecule. The diethyl ester form exhibits blue fluorescence with an emission maximum at 486 nm, while the crystalline form emits red fluorescence with an emission maximum at 604 nm. These differences are due to the presence of metal ion complexes in the crystal lattice that increase the electron density near the thiophene ring. The compound also shows high chemical stability with no detectable decomposition after three months in air or moisture.
