6-Biphenyl-9-(4-biphenylylmethyl)-2-(2,3-dihydro-1H-inden-5-yloxy)-9H-purin-2,6(3H,7H) dione (BIDN) is an antimicrobial agent that inhibits the replication of DNA and RNA by binding to bacterial 16S ribosomal RNA. This compound has been shown to be potent against methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus isolates and can be used for the treatment of infections caused by these bacteria.
