N-(3-Bromophenyl)-6,7-dimethoxyquinazolin-4-amine is a potent inhibitor of tyrosine kinases. It also inhibits protein and nucleic acid synthesis. This drug has been shown to be effective against cancer cells in culture with monoclonal antibodies. N-(3-Bromophenyl)-6,7-dimethoxyquinazolin-4-amine binds to the ATP binding site of the enzyme protein kinase, which prevents ATP from binding and inhibiting phosphorylation. This inhibition causes an increase in the levels of activated proteins that stimulate transcription and growth factor signaling pathways that lead to cell proliferation or death.
