4'-Benzyloxyphenyl acetylene is a synthetic compound that was developed as an HIV replication inhibitor. It is a member of the family of spirocyclic ketones and has been shown to have potent anti-HIV activity. This compound contains two stereocentres and one epoxide, which can be used for chiral synthesis. This compound also contains an allylation site in its structure, which can be used to synthesize the drug nevirapine. The bioactivity of this compound has not been evaluated, but it is expected to be similar to other members in this class.
