- 2-Chloro-6-bromoquinoline-3-carboxaldehyde
6-Bromo-2-chloroquinoline-3-carboxaldehyde is a potent antioxidant that scavenges reactive oxygen species. It has been shown to inhibit the formation of carbinols and amines and to cleave bonds in the skeleton of quinolones. 6-Bromo-2-chloroquinoline-3-carboxaldehyde has been used as a starting material for industrial preparation of antibacterial agents, such as antitubercular activity. This drug has also shown antidiabetic properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the production of glucose by the enzyme glycogen synthase kinase 3 beta (GSK3β). 6-Bromo-2-chloroquinoline 3 carboxaldehyde is an enantiomeric mixture with two stereoisomers: (R)-6-(bromomethyl) 2 chloroquine and (S)-6-(bromomethyl) 2 chloroquine.
