Description:

1-Benzyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-isoquinoline is a drug that binds to the dopamine receptor and has been shown to be neuroprotective against neuronal death in rats. The neuroprotective effect of 1-benzyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-isoquinoline may be due to its ability to decrease ATP loss and increase the mitochondrial membrane potential. This compound has also been shown to have an anti-locomotor activity in rats at low doses and inhibit the production of endogenous substances such as dopamine.
