Description:
Tert-Butyl 5-chloro-1H-indole-1-carboxylate (TBIC) is a phase transfer catalyst that can be used to convert amines and benzoates into nitriles. TBIC is also a good catalyst for the transfer of aliphatic amines and benzonitriles. It is soluble in organic solvents such as benzene, chloroform, and ether. TBIC has been shown to be useful as a microwave phase transfer catalyst because it has low melting point and high boiling point.
