Product Information
1-Bromo-2,5-octadiyne is a product of the oxidation of arachidonic acid. It is detectable in human blood and has antiinflammatory activity. 1-Bromo-2,5-octadiyne has been used as an analog for prostaglandin F2alpha and has been shown to inhibit platelet aggregation in vitro. It also inhibits the production of prostaglandin E2 by blocking the conversion of arachidonic acid to prostaglandins by phospholipase A2. 1-Bromo-2,5-octadiyne can be synthesized from linoleic acid or stearidonic acid via methyl esterification and chiral resolution. The stereochemistry of 1-bromo-2,5 octadiyne is determined by the configuration at C1 on the bromine atom. This configuration can be determined by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC)
