Description

3-Bromomethyl-3-methyloxetane is an organic compound that has been used as a monomer in the preparation of polymers. It is reactive and can be used to modify the surface properties of coatings. 3-Bromomethyl-3-methyloxetane is prepared by ring opening with boron trifluoride etherate, which reacts with a water surface. This reaction system can also be used to prepare oxetanes by reacting 3-bromomethyl-3-methyloxetane with ethylene oxide. The gel permeation chromatography technique can be used to purify this product.
