2-Bromo-1-[4-(methylsulfonyl)phenyl]-1-ethanone (SAHA) is a drug that has been shown to selectively inhibit the activity of cyclooxygenases and rofecoxib in prostate cancer cells. The inhibition of cyclooxygenases leads to a decrease in prostaglandin synthesis, which is necessary for cell growth. The inhibition of rofecoxib leads to an increase in G1 phase and a decrease in S phase, inhibiting the cell cycle. SAHA has also been shown to be effective against different types of cancer cells, such as du145, pc3, and LNCaP cells. SAHA selectively inhibits the growth of prostate cancer cells by inducing apoptosis in these cells without affecting normal prostate epithelial cells. It has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of prostate cancer cells by blocking cellular DNA synthesis and preventing G2/M transition. This drug does not affect normal cell
