Product Information
- Boc-L-Orn-OH
- N-Alpha-(Tert-Butoxycarbonyl)-L-Ornithine
- (2S)-5-ammonio-2-[(tert-butoxycarbonyl)amino]pentanoate
N-α-Boc-L-ornithine is a non-protein amino acid that has been shown to be involved in the biosynthesis of polyamines. It is synthesized from hydrochloric acid, tissues, and uptake. It is also involved in the synthesis of other functional groups such as urea, glutamine, and creatine. N-α-Boc-L-ornithine can be used as a tumor marker due to its high concentration in cancer cells and tumor sites. This amino acid absorbs at 705 nm in the near infrared region of the spectrum. The absorbance peaks at 730 nm when it is oxidized by atmospheric oxygen or nitrous oxide. The reaction with atmospheric oxygen produces an oxide synthase, which is responsible for this oxidation process. In addition, N-α-Boc-L-ornithine has been shown to have antitumor activity in BGC823 and Du145 cells.
