Boc-L-phenylalanine 4-nitrophenyl ester is a blood pressure medication that has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of angiotensin I-converting enzyme (ACE). It is also an effective vasodilator, which may be due to its ability to enhance potassium flux. Boc-L-phenylalanine 4-nitrophenyl ester is water soluble and can be administered orally, intramuscularly, or intravenously. This drug is rapidly absorbed, with peak plasma concentrations occurring within one hour after administration. The elimination half life of the drug ranges from 2.5 to 3 hours.
