Product Information
- Boc-L-Pro-ONp(S)-Boc-pyrrolidine-2-carboxylic acid 4-nitrophenyl ester
- 1-Tert-Butyl 2-(4-Nitrophenyl) Pyrrolidine-1,2-Dicarboxylate
Boc-L-proline 4-nitrophenyl ester is a synthetic amino acid that has been used as a model for collagen. It reacts with the hydroxyl group of proline to form an ester and can be used to study the biosynthesis of collagen. Collagen is a fibrous protein and one of the most abundant proteins in mammals, which provides structural support for tissues such as skin and bone. Boc-L-proline 4-nitrophenyl ester stabilizes procollagen polypeptides by preventing their degradation and has been shown to inhibit the aggregation of procollagen polypeptides into amyloid fibrils. The optical activity of this compound can be determined using spectroscopy, which yields information about its purity, stability, solubility, and other properties. This amino acid is homogeneous and produces dichroism when it interacts with polarized light.
