It is used in inhibiting the activity of angiotensin II, which regulates blood pressure and the production of other substances in the body. Boc-L-leucine 4-nitrophenyl ester inhibits neutrophil function by binding to fatty acids, which are essential for neutrophil activation. This inhibitory effect on neutrophils may be associated with lung diseases such as chronic bronchitis and asthma. This inhibition also results in an increase in the concentration of hydroxy groups on leucine residues, which can bind to carbohydrates and proteins.
