Description:

Boc-L-tyrosine 4-nitrophenyl ester is a serine proteinase inhibitor that has been shown to inhibit the activity of human serum and pancreatic serine proteinases. It binds to the catalytic site of these enzymes, blocking access to the amino acid sequence. Boc-L-tyrosine 4-nitrophenyl ester can be used in biochemical analyses as a standard for n-terminal amino acid sequencing. This product is synthesized by reacting L-tyrosine with 4-nitrophenol and Boc anhydride in solvents such as tetrahydrofuran (THF) or dioxane. The product can then be purified by chromatography, analysed by mass spectrometry and hydrolysed under acidic conditions.
