Product Information
- Boc-L-glycyl proline
- N-(tert-butoxycarbonyl)glycylproline
Glycine proline diketopiperazine is a cyclic peptide that has been synthesized from an active form of glycine and proline. It has been shown to inhibit prostate cancer cells in vitro by binding to the cell membrane. Boc-Gly-Pro-OH is hydrolyzed by enzymes in human serum, which leads to the release of hydrogen ions and serotonin. The latter is then converted into dopamine by carboxypeptidase A, which may account for its anticancer activity. The synthetic process can be activated with trifluoroacetic acid and this compound has been shown to have anticancer activity in mammalian tissue culture.
