Description

Boc-3-nitro-L-tyrosine is a methyl ester of the amino acid tyrosine. It is an aromatic amino acid that can be detected by metal ion sensors, and it has been used as a fluorophore in chemosensors and other devices. When reacting with lead tetraacetate, Boc-3-nitro-L-tyrosine undergoes oxidation to form a photoproduct. The photophysical properties of this compound are dependent on the presence of metal ions, and it has been used to detect lead in water samples. This compound also acts as a ligand for some transition metals, including copper.
