Boc-N-methyl-L-phenylglycine is a positron emission corrector (PEC) that is used to correct the positron lifetime in positron emission tomography. It has been used as a potentiator and chloride ion donor for the synthesis of fluorinated amino acid derivatives. The fluorescence of Boc-N-methyl-L-phenylglycine can be quenched by bithiazole, which has been shown to inhibit its activity in cells. This compound also binds to human tissue and has a biodistribution pattern similar to that of glucose.
