Description:
Z-O-tert-butyl-L-tyrosine methyl ester is a synthetic, stable, and water soluble chemical. It is used as an acidifier in organic synthesis and as a chiral auxiliary in asymmetric syntheses. The compound can be prepared by refluxing isobutene with NaOH solution and Fmoc-OSu in methanol under nitrogen atmosphere. The resulting product can then be purified by recrystallization from citric acid/water solution.
