Product Information
- L-Phe(2-Br)-OHo-Bromo-L-phenylalanine(S)-2-Amino-3-(2-bromophenyl)propionic acid
- L-2-Bromophenylalanine
- H-Phe(2-Br)-OH
2-Bromo-L-phenylalanine is a chiral protonated amino acid derivative that has been used as a reagent for the labelling of peptides. The marine sponge can produce this compound, which is then released into the surrounding seawater. This molecule can be isolated and purified from the sponge by acid analysis or amino acid analysis. 2-Bromo-L-phenylalanine reacts with a nucleophile to form an amide bond, which is cleaved by hydrolysis. It is also synthesized in two enantiomeric forms that are distinguished by their reaction time.
2-Bromo-L-phenylalanine has been shown to have anti cancer properties and inhibit spermatozoa motility.
