Description

Boc-D-beta-phenylalanine is an inhibitor of the proteasome. It was found to inhibit the activity of a specific subunit of the proteasome, and this inhibition can be reversed by adding DTT. Boc-D-beta-phenylalanine has been shown to have inhibitory activities on myeloma cells and on experimental cellular systems. This compound binds to β-amino acids in proteins and inhibits their degradation by the proteasome. The target compounds for this drug are β-amino acids that are not present in human proteins, such as β-aminoisobutyric acid and β-aminohexanoic acid.
