Description

Boc-(2S-3S)-3-amino-2-hydroxy-4-phenylbutyric acid is a hydroxyl group containing isostere that has been used to synthesize HIV protease inhibitors. This compound has been shown to have transition state analog and enzyme inhibition activity in the presence of a hydroxyl group. It also has an inhibitory effect on HIV protease, which may be due to its ability to bind to the reactive serine residue in the active site. Boc-(2S-3S)-3-amino-2-hydroxy-4-phenylbutyric acid is a potent inhibitor of human leukocyte elastase, tripeptidyl peptidase I, trypsin, and chymotrypsin.
