Product Information
- 3-Benzyl-3H-imidazole-4-carbaldehyde
- 3-Benzylimidazole-4-Carbaldehyde
1-Benzyl-1H-imidazole-5-carboxaldehyde is a molecule that is reactive with other molecules. It is synthesized from 7-ethoxycoumarin and naphthalene, which are precursors to the benzyl group. 1-Benzyl-1H-imidazole-5-carboxaldehyde has been shown to be an aromatase inhibitor, and it may have potential as a cancer treatment. This molecule also inhibits the enzyme 7-ethoxycoumarin odeethylase, which results in an increase of 7-ethoxycoumarin levels in tissues. 1BICA has also been shown to inhibit calcium channels, which may be useful for treating heart arrhythmia or hypertension. The biological properties of this molecule are not well understood, but it has been found to inhibit liver microsomes and to be synthetized by rat liver enzymes.
