Description:

4-(tert-Butyl-dimethyl-silanyloxy)-but-2-ynoic acid is an organic solvent that is used in solvents, such as acetoacetate and hydrochloric acid. It is also a nucleophilic reagent used to silylate amines to produce tertiary amines. This compound is used to prepare butyl 2-cyanoacrylate, which is a synthetic polymer. Preparative methods for this compound include the use of solvents such as toluene or anhydrous solvents. Solubility of the compound can be increased by reacting with a base such as sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide.
