5-Bromo-3,4-dihydro-2H-naphthalen-1-one is a heterocyclic compound that is the parent structure for a class of compounds known as anilines. It has been used in molecular modeling to study the receptor binding affinity of endogenous compounds. 5-Bromo-3,4-dihydro-2H-naphthalen-1-one activates serotonin receptors and blocks histamine H1 receptors, leading to relief from depression and anxiety. The chemical nature of this molecule is not well understood; however, it has been shown to bind to the 5HT2C receptor, which affects appetite and weight regulation.
