6-Bromo-3,4-dihydro-8-(methoxycarbonyl)-3-oxo-2H-1,4-benzoxazine is a racemic mixture of two enantiomers. It has been used as an intermediate in the synthesis of chroman derivatives. The compound has been shown to have antihyperglycemic activity in diabetic rats. 6-Bromo-3,4-dihydro-8-(methoxycarbonyl)-3-oxo-2H-1,4-benzoxazine is a chiral compound with two stereocenters at positions 1 and 4. The compound can be synthesized from acetylacetone and phenylhydrazine hydrochloride by reacting them in ethanol with sodium methoxide at reflux.
