4-Bromophenyl-2-hydroxythiazole is an inhibitor of the nuclear receptor coactivator, PGC-1α. This agent blocks the activity of the coactivator and prevents it from interacting with other transcription factors to regulate gene expression. 4-(4-Bromophenyl)-2-hydroxythiazole has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of a number of cell lines including those derived from cancerous tumors. It has also been shown to be effective in animal models for bone metastases, autoimmune diseases, and infectious diseases.
