5-(4-Bromophenyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazole-2-thiol is a fluorescent probe that can be used to detect the presence of copper. It has been shown as a stable probe and is able to fluoresce under UV light. 5-(4-Bromophenyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazole-2-thiol has been investigated for its ability to determine the optimal conditions for detecting copper ions by measuring fluorescence intensity at different temperatures. This compound is also sensitive to metal ions such as nickel and zinc.
