Description

1,4-Benzodioxan-6-yl methyl ketone is a potent inhibitor of bacterial growth that has been shown to be effective against methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Clostridium perfringens. It also exhibits antihepatotoxic activity, hypotensive properties, and potent inhibitory activity against the growth of Gram positive bacteria. 1,4-Benzodioxan-6-yl methyl ketone inhibits the synthesis of proteins by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit in bacteria. This binding prevents the formation of an antibiotic-inhibitor complex with the enzyme cell wall synthesis that is required for cell wall biosynthesis, inhibiting protein synthesis and cell division.
