3-Benzyloxyaniline is a monosubstituted benzene compound that has been shown to have cytotoxic effects. It inhibits the proliferation of cancer cells in vitro by binding to DNA and inhibiting DNA synthesis. 3-Benzyloxyaniline has been shown to inhibit the growth of hygrophilum, an aquatic organism, in a dose-dependent manner. The accumulation of 3-benzyloxyaniline in water may be due to its resistance to biodegradation or its high solubility in water. This chemical has also been shown to induce apoptosis by inhibiting the activity of SIRT2 inhibitors. 3-Benzyloxyaniline is not carcinogenic and does not produce mutations at any level tested, but does cause chromosomal aberrations at high doses.
