Description:
Benzhydrylamine hydrochloride is a potent antagonist of the blood pressure-lowering agent hydroxyl group. It is used in animals to study the biological properties of this class of drugs, and has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and anti-degenerative properties. Benzhydrylamine hydrochloride also has potent antimicrobial effects against infectious diseases such as amoebiasis, leishmaniasis, and trypanosomiasis. It inhibits bacterial growth by binding to amines and acylating them to form an amide or disulfide bond. This process interrupts protein synthesis and cellular metabolism, leading to cell death.
