2-Bromo-4-chloroanisole is an aromatic compound that is used as a precursor to other compounds. It is a reactive molecule that can be dehalogenated under strong acid conditions, such as in carbon tetrachloride. 2-Bromo-4-chloroanisole can react with electron donors, such as hexane, and undergoes reaction with chloroform to produce anisoles. This process can be performed in one step or in three steps. It has been shown to undergo resonance spectrometry using the chloroform molecule as the analyte.
