Product Information

Name:
6-Bromonicotinamide
Synonyms:
  • 6-Bromopyridine-3-carboxamide
  • 6-Bromopyridine-3-Carboxamide
  • 3-Pyridinecarboxamide,6-bromo-
  • 6-Bromo-3-pyridinecarboxamide
Description:

6-Bromonicotinamide is an amide that can be used for the labeling of biomolecules, such as proteins and nucleic acids. It has been used in positron emission tomography (PET) imaging of cardiac function. 6-Bromonicotinamide binds to the chromobox, a molecular target that is expressed on the surface of many cells, including cardiac cells. 6-Bromonicotinamide can be detected by fluorescence or by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). This compound can also be used to measure uptake into cells and measure reaction time. The physicochemical properties of this compound are similar to those of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+), which makes it suitable for ammonolysis reactions.
