3-Bromo-2,5-dichloropyridine is an orthogonal molecule that can be used in biomolecular methodology. It is a precursor to the tricyclic compound pyridine, which is one of the most important synthetic compounds and is used as a building block for pharmaceuticals. The molecule has been synthesized using iodides and c-h bond activation with oxazole. The coupling reaction was achieved by using a palladium catalyst in the presence of an aryl iodide. This chemistry has been shown to be effective for heteroarylation reactions on organic molecules.
