Product Information
- Benzo[B]Thiophene, 3-(Bromomethyl)-7-Chloro-
3-(Bromomethyl)-7-chloro-1-benzothiophene is a synthetic chemical transformation product of sertaconazole nitrate, which is an efficient drug for the treatment of fungal infections. Nitrate ions in 3-(bromomethyl)-7-chloro-1-benzothiophene are readily reduced to nitrite by electron transfer from NADPH or cytochrome P450 reductase enzymes in the liver and other tissues. The nitrite ions react with the thiol group of cysteine residues in proteins and form S-nitrosothiols. These S-nitrosothiols can react with many nucleophiles, including amines, thiols, sulfides, and alcohols. This reaction is usually reversible, but under certain conditions it leads to irreversible covalent modification of proteins. In this way 3-(bromomethyl)-7-chloro-1-benz
