1-[(tert-Butyl)oxycarbonyl]-3-(3,4-dichlorobenzyl)piperidine-3-carboxylic acid is a blocker that is used to treat high blood pressure. It blocks the action of angiotensin II, which causes vasoconstriction, and also blocks the release of renin from the kidneys. 1-[(tert-Butyl)oxycarbonyl]-3-(3,4-dichlorobenzyl)piperidine-3-carboxylic acid is a potent inhibitor of the enzyme branched chain aminotransferase (BCAT), which converts the amino acids leucine, valine, and isoleucine into their corresponding ketoacids. It does this by binding to an allosteric site on BCAT and prevents formation of an active complex with its substrates. This inhibition can lead to a decrease in blood pressure
