tert-Butyl 3-formyl-1H-indole-1-carboxylate is a cyclopropane compound that can be synthesized by cyclodehydration of tert-butyl 3-formylindole-1,3-dicarboxylate. This chemical is homochiral and has a tetrahydrofuran ring. The tertiary amide group makes this compound nucleophilic and able to react with azides. It can also react with enantiomerically pure benzyl azide, which yields the corresponding indole nitrogen. The yield for this reaction is about 86%.
