Product Information
Biotin-4-fluorescein is a cell-specific fluorescent probe that has been used to study the patterning of microcapsules in tissue culture. Biotin-4-fluorescein binds to the surface of cells and accumulates in regions with high concentrations of enzymes, such as the mitochondria. This probe can also be used to monitor enzyme activities and other molecular processes. Biotin-4-fluorescein is activated by light and fluoresces at a wavelength of 488 nm when bound to streptavidin, which has been conjugated with an enzyme substrate. The fluorescence assay is a quantitative technique that can be used to measure binding constants for protein interactions and molecular methods for identifying molecules.
